Siege findings from Italian site in the Hannibal era

If the finds are indeed dateable to the Second Punic, as opposed to earlier Roman campaigns in the area (and what about Alexander of Epirus or Pyrrhus?), then the number of lead slingshot is interesting given slingers do not usually get a mention in Republican armies of the period...  secondary weaponry, sieges for the use of, perchance?
