Sutton Hoo helmet video

Looking at the Enderby bark shield video pointed me to another BM video about the Sutton Hoo helmet which is worth a watch.

I was interested to learn that the current view is that there is no evidence for the skull of the helmet being made in two (or more) segments like the Late Roman ridge helmets that may have inspired it - that was the prevailing view for quite a long time.

Prompted by a reference in The Perfect Sword, I found this British Museum video from three years ago in which Sue Brunning (the same curator as in the helmet video) sets out her conclusion from wear patterns and grave placement that the wielder of the Sutton Hoo sword was left-handed. Fascinating stuff.
