"Greebo's grin gradually faded, until there was nothing left but the cat. This was nearly as spooky as the opposite way around."

I have seen cat owners with similar wounds, generally received after trying to persuade their pets to take some unpleasant medicine or other attempts at imposing their will on their recalcitrant moggies.

Quite so.  One cannot understand anyone wishing to keep such vicious animals as pets when their only benefit is either for lining a coat or as guitar strings.

Much as I love Ammianus, I always thought by far the least credible of his claims was that the Huns wore coats made from field mice skins (dutifully repeated by P Barker Esq).  You would need several cats to line a coat, let alone a kaftan, unless just aiming for collar and cuffs.  How many field mice would one need?  Who on earth would look at a field mouse and think that was the solution to their winter clothing challenge, now I just have to find a couple of hundred more...?

Thank you.  I obviously missed the marmot theory last time around...
