The medieval Anglo-Scots Wars are a long standing interest of mine, so I was happy to chance upon this article from 2012. David H. Caldwell : Scottish Spearmen, 1298–1314: An Answer to Cavalry is available for online reading at jStor.  No dramatic revelations but a solid summary, IMO.
