Good find Duncan. For a long time suspected there will be lots more to find in S. America. As a teenager I went to a very interesting archaeological talk in Cardiff Uni which was clearly pushing back the 'accepted' date of colonisation. Then there has been the realisation that much of the Amazon basin was populated in pre Colombian times. Physical techniques like LIDAR are opening up huge new posibilities.

Read about this discovery a few days ago but I don't think here.  These artifacts suggest that South American civilizations are much older than current studies suggest.  Having visited a number of these ancient Peruvian sites, I marveled how these artifacts could have been built given current technology.  Another case of we don't really know what we don't know.
