Theological point here. If the Buddha achieved Nirvana,  and on his death achieved Parinirvana. Apparently, instead of being reborn, the person 'parinirvāṇa-s', meaning in this context that the five aggregates of physical and mental phenomena that constitute a being cease to occur.
So how can these gems be "imbued with the presence of the Buddha."

Not sure, but Buddhist iconography is very much alive and well.

Something to be fought over using a skirmish campaign system like Test of Honour? - though I guess that would depart even further from Buddhist principles  :-[
