Double envelopments are fine but you need to pull them off in a hurry. Battle report here (https://wargamingwithoutdice.blogspot.com/2025/03/you-have-to-move-fast.html).

And timing is everything...
Nice report, Justin. I do like your Optio set up. Neat battle board, table, figures, accompanying markers. Full marks!
Good to see the Romans finally getting to take out that Crafty Chap from Carthage ;D
This reminds me of the time I doggedly outflanked both the left and right wings of Mr Metheringham's (Steve's not the other Mr M) Late Romans, with my Mongols, at an Armati weekend, but I failed to pin his front with my Mongol heavy cavalry. And Steve unsprung the 'trap' by about facing his army!
AND another EXCELLENT battle report, the graphics as ever are EXCELLENT and I think the brief but pictorial pre-game manoeuvre is an EXCELLENT concept well executed. And well explained here (and in detail elsewhere).
So was this hilly forested terrain in Italy / Sicily or the Atlas fringes?

If the Carthaginians hadn't started the fighting in the centre first, would it have gone better for them?
