Title: The Anabasis

The Anabasis is still one of my favourite books...

This and Thucydides were the only bits of Greek history I read as a teenager, they both impressed me but the pull of Rome was more alluring. I have read a lot more Xenophon recently but although 'The education of Cyrus' is interesting it doesn't have the same punch as his true life struggle.

I thought that was St.Edmund, but maybe that's an anglo-centric education for you.

The last thing going through his mind was,"Why didn't I wear the red toga....?"

His last words were:

"Infamy, infamy.  They've all got it in for me."

For a while I entertained the thought that the JC being referred to was the "I didn't get to where I am today by...." boss in 'The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin', but having checked I find that was CJ rather than JC.  Easy to get these fellas mixed up.  ::)

I always preferred watching the film (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Warriors_(film)) above reading the book.

:P
