Title: Thracian foot command
Post by: martin on Oct 29, 2023, 08:20 AM
I would like some advice from chaps here.
Thracian foot troops need a command pack (they may ignore it but it is the thought that counts).

3 poses. Officer with a sword, standard bearer (draco?), musician base guitar long verical horn???

Thanks for any input.

martin :)

Not draco - not introduced until well into the Roman Imperial period. Something similar to the Macedonian style of standard would be more likely.

Xenophon mentions a horn sending signals, though Chris Peers illustrated a trumpet in the Osprey (https://mirageswar.com/uploads/posts/1224849746_360maa1.jpg). There are trumpets illustrated in the Kazanluk tomb (https://ipanematravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Thracian-tomb-Kazanlak-detail.jpg), though not in a military context.
