The second big DBM game on my 8' x 5' table was fought today (three SoA members and one apostate). There's a report and some pictures on my web site at https://jglwargames.com/game-reports-2025/
Good fun.
Get the apostate back in John :)
If I know John, he is already outside of the apostate's house, flaming cross in hand, performing an exorcism.
Good man :)
John GL great link to well illustrated and clear battle report. Its a long time since I played DBM.
I probably gave up after turning up with Late Romans and finding my small commands greatly outnumbered by larger 'Irregular' armies commands and trying to defeat them felt like wading through treacle, not that I have ever literally wading thru treacle....
So interesting to see Romans win versus Germans.
I played some DBMM this year, a gaming friend loves DBMM and Mid Imperial Romans, but my different German armies made it very hard for Romans and if memory serves me right the Romans only won when I fielded Sassanids in fourth game and got rules wrong for Sassanids, and in fifth game when Romans were doing well against my Palmyrans when we ran out of time to finish game.
I have enjoyed several Roman versus Germans and Sassanids playing solo using TtS.
