Booked...
(first time attendee, as previous dates always clashed with a family event).

Just a quick note to those whose email provider is Comcast.  For reasons best known to themselves, this organisation has bounced all my emails regarding news about the Society Convention.

Notwithstanding, the Society webpage is up and running for those who would like further details and book their place.

In that sense UK gamers are spoilt for games and trade conventions.

I am not quite as energetic at the start of my eighth decade as I was 50 years ago!

I shall investigate how far Great Missenden is from the venue.

Of course its two bus rides and then a train from Scarborough to get me to the York mainline station!!

So energy levels do not always match the challenge. (and public transport isnt quite as frequent as down south! My two eldest daughters enjoy access to multi options and service every ten minutes in their north and south London homes, my local bus is one an hour from 7.30am till 5.15pm Monday to Saturday and no service on public holidays, Sundays or evenings!! Thankfully I can still walk to a pub to get a beer or watch those mega stars of the Premier League .... LFC of course... oops I may have pressed the politics button....

CarlL back off to his idyll lifestyle

Carl, we could I am sure organise a pick up from Great Missenden station. It's not far from the venue.

Happily I have been able to confirm dates for my next UK trip that will allow me to come to the convention again this year and my booking has just been made.

That's a bit hard on Steve.  There are special rules that apply to Australians.  I used to belong in a professional capacity to the Australasian Land Registrars Conference.  It met every year in Australia because my Australian counter-parts could not get permission to travel to other parts of the region (except NZ which they seemed to regard as counting as Australia).  I was never sure whether the missing permission was from their wives or from the government ::)

Regrets, Nick, but I won't be back in time for Colours  :(

Just back from the convention, and must offer congratulations and thanks in equal proportions to all involved in organising a great event! A great variety of splendid games, and universally high quality of talks. Good to see so many old friends as well. As Lieutenant George in Blackadder Goes Forth might have said BRAVO!!!!!!!!

Martin Smith

Thanks to Richard and all who organised the Convention and ran games. My first time attending, and was made very welcome.

Thanks especially to those who ran all the games. Those I got to join in on were by Mike Hall (TTS), Ian Piper (HC), Richard Jeffrey-Cook (MeG Pacto)  and Martin Rapier (DotS). All did a really good job, and their effort was much appreciated 👍🏼.

Everyone has their faves, and my personal 'highlights of the weekend' were:

1) the Dominion of the Spear mini-campaign, which was very entertaining, showing just how effective a small but well designed set of minimalist rules can be,
and
2) the Issus game with To the Strongest - something about use of a card deck and the jeopardy of risking 'just one more card' really appealed...as did the grid it plays on (heretic, that I am 🙂).

Once again, thanks to all.

So, Martin, can we expect to see you competing in the next TtS competition?

Love for someone to do a write up of the battles and especially the dominion of the spear stuff
