Yeah, maybe.  We don't need to project Frankish influence to explain it though. 

Then there is gavelkind in Ceint/Kent, abolished in 1926 I think.  Something different happened there.  What we can see of it supports the traditional narrative.  That makes it noteworthy.  If more turns up we will maybe know more.

I've never been able to understand the root of the Men of Kent/Kentish Men divide but it seems to mean something.
