Simply change at Bristol and complete the journey via the Kennet and Avon Canal, although you might want to change boats at Devizes in order to avoid the 29 locks there.

Well since 2025 is all but behind us...time to look to 2026 for shows I would like to attend

I may get to 3 or 4 so its all about the best 'bang for buck' so to speak.

I must compile a list

Carronade in Falkirk is the best show in Scotland

Would love to but Even with my senior rail card that would be £184.60 travelling off peak with changes. Given I have been on train for a month of daily commutes recently and stood for the whole of perhaps a third of those journeys not something I would enjoy. :-[ Perhaps I should take Nick's advice and investigate the canal system and take it a bit slower. ???
Wouldn't it be great if there was a high speed rail link from Scotland down to somewhere like Birmingham which is close to the geographical centre of the island.??? Just asking!

Stupidly enough if you don't mind getting the late/early stuff a flight is way cheaper than the train

Depends on the length of your train journey to the airport  ;)

Indeed the travel both ends will add considerably. Despite the above cynicism  I am keen to get up to Scotland and the isles above more. Whether I can build in a Wargames show into the itinerary is another matter.

Circumstances have dictated a later dare for Carronade in 2026, Saturday June 6th.  A great time of year for a holiday in Scotland with very long days and at least the chance of some decent weather.  If you do come stop for a chat at the Test of Resolve stand

Sharur

From the earlier comments, it seems like for some, the real Test of Resolve is just working out how to get there affordably!

That looks huge. More generalised than specifically wargaming i guess
