As no-one seems to be able to identify what it is and there is no evidence for its date, it is difficult to see how this claim can be sustained. Even if Roman, why assume it was carved after the fort nearby had fallen out of use?
i wasnt overly convinced myself but thought what the hey and see what others thought...
I wasn't entirely impressed by the claim :)
