A bit niche, but if you ever wondered about Neolithic migration in the central Pacific...
As the articles states, the Marianas were settled from the Philipines. Almost all the rest of Remote Oceania was settled by the spread of speakers of the so-called Oceanic branch of the Austronesian language family from the area around the north coast of New Guinea. So that the Marianas stick out wrt agricultural practices makes a lot of sense.
Nice to know that getting around to cleaning the rice cooker is not just a modern problem....
