Excellent news
Having only been to Orkney as pandemic restrictions were loosening I missed out so I will have to go again. :D
That old excuse.... ;D

Do you think I might have to be more inventive to persuade the wife? ???
Possibly....new shopping centre/tea shop/bookshop/craft shop/arts centre (delete as applicable) now in vicinity of said site...
;D
It's so long since I visited they were probably just getting over the Black Death :-[
Or your visit? ;D
When I went quite a few years ago it was very much an adjunct to a farm, run by the farmer's family. You could handle artefacts from the site in a shed. No shopping centres (or settlements bigger than a farm) nearby. I do remember watching a hen harrier hunting in a field next to the car park though.
Sounds like Y Gaer fort near me :)

...I think I went there in about 1973-4...but the memory is a tad vague that far back. Would've gone from a family visit to Brecon (?).
Yup....that's the badger

My recollection is vague, but I think it was a hilltop site and had an aura of 'bleak and cutoff from anywhere'... the enduring memory is of wondering how it must have been for the poor s*ds posted out there! The drizzle may not have helped, of course....
It's a little bit out of the way certainly but it's a fabulous area to traipse around
