Title: Tree grown from 1000 year old seed in Israel
Post by: DBS on Sep 20, 2024, 07:04 AM
Times of Israel article (https://www.timesofisrael.com/tree-grown-from-ancient-mystery-seed-found-in-cave-could-be-source-of-biblical-balm/)

Thought to possibly be, or related to, a biblical balm.

Seed planted and germinated in 2010 - the picture at the top of the article is a bit misleading, as must have been an early photo, towards the bottom is a more recent pic of the tree.

Interesting, I had heard about these seeds as a colleague in school had groups from his A level Biology students students helping with the research being done by the Kew Gardens seed bank and it was one of the bits of info that he used to help engage interest. But that did not include the medical stuff about balm.
