There is a less journalistic account of the provenance of this helmet on the Royal Ontario Museum website (https://collections.rom.on.ca/objects/523779/corinthian-type-helmet). Curiously, the finder also went to Thermopylae and found another "Spartan" helmet there (but no skull).

It might be interesting to find out how many Spartan helmets from Thermopylae there are in collections around the world, and whether there are more of them than 300 or than pieces of the true cross?
