A late Ptolemaic river galley from the sound of it - could be a very significant find.

A certain irony in a French archaeological team looking for wrecks in Abu Qir Bay...  :o

Not sure why they think the described design features mean it was necessarily a specialised riverine vessel as they would be common to most galleys, given their need to beach frequently.
