I didn't recognise the name - but instantly recognised the style. Marvellous.

he was part of the most enjoyable aspect of the Time Team episodes as he really brought the findings to life for me

I've always liked Victor Ambrus' style - I have some of his legendary illustrations pre-timeteam somewhere.  Your point about bringing things to life is interesting.  Ambrus is quoted in that obit saying he was not obsessed with detail accuracy but bringing the scene to life - the human element.  Not so good for architecture perhaps but TT did bring in computer graphics for that sort of thing.  What they could do with modern high end architectural rendering programmes around now is a great "what if".
