thanks for the link to the article....much appreciated and much to ponder on, if nothing else, the ruminations on size of the forces
Indeed. I have for some time felt that the forces at Hastings were grossly underestimated and that the army of the later Saxon kings had more to it than we generally believe. This study looks like a step in the right direction, away from ab initio dismissal as 'impossible' and towards such evidence as there is.
