Yes and "site of battle that changed the course of history protected" does sound so much better than "random field in Turkey protected in the hope of providing a bit of cash flow for local businesses". [Cynical mode off]
It's a nice field, and who knows it might be where the battle took place. The surrounding area is all intensive agriculture, so protection is good. (Though sometimes 'protection' means 'a visitor centre, car park, hotels and bungs for all the local bigwigs').
