And to prove the sword's provinence, young Henrik then blood eagled the teachers and ransacked a couple of monasteries on the way home. His legal defense of "the sword made me do it" is a loophole in old Norse law.

I'd go further and point out that pulling swords out of stones does bring with it constitutional privileges  :)

As long as it is pulled out of the ground, not distributed by strange women lying in ponds. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.
