Title: Brunanburh - they seek it here, they seek it there
Post by: Erpingham on Dec 17, 2025, 03:17 PM
A new go (https://www.medievalists.net/2025/12/medieval-mystery-of-brunanburh-battle-may-be-solved-new-study-argues/) at locating the battle of Brunanburh.  Interesting in that the article seems to think the proposed location is novel whereas I thought the Wirral was the front runner in the location stakes already. Anyway, perhaps of interest.

Yes, I thought Michael Livingston had established it as the leading candidate some years ago. But "solving the mystery" sounds better than "agreeing with the main contender".
