Just carpet off-cuts, with S&A Scenics bushes. Sorry, no camels (other than in the Assyrians' baggage).
John GL, great photos, figures and report via link and playing mat .... I thought I recognised the design [as in your comment in linked report "my new giant battle mat for an 8' x 5' table. Bought from Simon Miller's BigRedBat store"] as I have bought that design in couple of sizes with grid for TtS games!
