The treasure finds map isn't all that far adrift from current population density plus places within an easy weekend run from the London area  ;)

I was wondering if there was an increase in the number of people partaking of the hobby and if this could be an additional factor in the number of finds.

Likewise...'herself' took it up recently, with a few finds rapidly acquired. Not a high barrier to entry when the detecting kit is relatively cheap.
