I watched a convincing documentary years ago that suggested the 'hanging gardens' were at Nineveh not Babylon. It's certainly an interesting site with regard to the hydroengineering.

 The modern replica gates are impressive but the access ladders on the sides, however useful, do rather spoil the effect.
