Not a battle report (yet) but I think this is the right place! Inspired by the purchase of a large and splendid battle mat from BigRedBat, I'm planning a programme of 500 point DBM games on an 8' x 5' table; normal DBM 25mm armies are 350 points so these will be pretty big games. This will be after we've finished our current ECW campaign (up to 1649 and Cromwell is invading Scotland). I've expanded some of my existing armies (three extra elephants for the Indians, five extra chariots for the Egyptians) and for the rest I already have the figures. All the battles will be between roughly contemporary armies and most between historical opponents. The following are lined up.
Early Neo-Assyrian v New Kingdom Egyptian
Later Sargonid Assyrian v Early Hoplite Greek
Classical Indian v Seleucid
Polybian Roman v Later Carthaginian
Polybian Roman v Seleucid
Early Imperial Roman v Middle Imperial Roman
Carolingian Frankish v Thematic Byzantine
Carolingian Frankish v Norse Viking
Norman v Anglo-Danish
Early Crusader v Seljuk Turkish
Later Crusader v Ayyubid Egyptian
Feudal French v Medieval German
Teutonic Orders v Estonian
HYW English v Medieval French
Medieval German v Hussite
Ottoman v Later Hungarian
I'll try to remember to take pictures.
Wow that's some list John
Good luck :)
Changed already - I can't make a convincing Viking army at 500 points but I can field Late Imperial Roman and Suevi.
The first game, to christen the splendid new battle mat, will be fought next week with two players a side - just as a taster. In the meantime we have Cromwell versus Hamilton on Sunday.
